Sacred- Quiet TIme Challenge Day 6 12.16.08

I love this time of year...Christmas...while the noise of Christmas carols drives me up a wall the message they bring is one we need so much...i love that all over the country people are playing worship music...literally...and in that they are preaching a message of hope and redemption without even knowing it...

I was moved today at the thought of this...and i hope you will be too...

Christmas is without question a time for selfless giving and joy, however the very act of being selfless requires self examination...and a simple question....'what is my motivation.'

my heart this year is that Christmas be a time for reflection, worship, and adoration for our savior...and not in a religious way but in a personal and relational way unlike any of us has seen...

So i blogged via my blackberry on Sunday to let yall know i wasnt going to be able to post...but yeah who knows...something happened and it didnt post...sunday power was out at my house...from 10pm sat night to 1pm Sunday!! nuts...

MTV ema's

So just at home watching my favorite channel...well back up, just got home from riding my horse with my dad and sister in the rain...ugh...now i am warm in my sweats and my comfy pure shirt (you should get one).

if you know me at all i am a music junky...from Modest Mouse, Thrice, and Matt Redman, to Nas, Dave Matthews band, David Crowder, Led Zeppelin, Sigur Ros, and Wagner...i love it all and enjoy the tones and textures each brings to the table...so you could imagine me discovering that i have a music HD channel...I am in love...

So the MTV ema's (European music award), aired 11.6.08, are on and who else would be hosting except my favorite progressive pop artist...Katy Perry...

some of you know that i have all but crucified her in the past, and for that i need to apologize...i dont intend to do that now...

so with that said...she doesnt know what shes doing, only that she was poor last year and rich and famous this year...and shes doin what everyone wants her to do...look cute, do whats racy and make them money...

but what does it say about us? if it wasnt for us they wouldnt have a market to sell to...

i know that its not exactly you and i that she is marketing to but what does it say about our demographic? what do you think we are doing to change this...i believe its an appetite issue...we have the appetite they provide the food...

we need not to combat this...because that does nothing but create hate, but what are we doing, what can we do to change our generations appetite...the hope and redemption of jesus is such a better, in fact it is the only, satisfaction...eternal satisfaction...but then again we dont live much for eternity in our generation do we?

Sacred- Quiet Time Challenge Day 2 12.12.08

woo hoo...i woke up sick today!!!! JK not fun at all...

so here is my quiet time consideration for you...

have you ever stopped to think that you have a wonderful opportunity as a believer in Christ? you and i have the privilege of experiencing the reality of the world, like everyone else, but our reality extends beyond here. we also have the pleasure of experiencing the reality of God as well.

i think that being able to experience the reality of the world is a huge propellant to worship...because the truth of it is that the reality of the world is a vacuum of hope...and in the vacuum Jesus wants to redeem all of it...you and i are in a unique place because we can look at the world and realize the lack of hope and look at God and worship in amazement of who he is...

there is responsibility in this reality though...you and i are compelled to live transparent and authentic lives...we cannot compartmentalize who we are at church, home, work, school, relationship, etc. we have a responsiblity to be hope and bring redemption through Jesus to the world around us...how? by being you and telling people there is hope then showing them where!!!

welcome to the quiet time challenge...let do this...

the consideration of Christmas, and worship for that matter, is an amazing idea. Through Jesus God came and entered our reality...he didnt happen to show up here...didnt happen to stop by, he didnt take a wrong turn...he chose through Jesus to become part of our broken hopeless world...

from the creator came a child who was the creator, haha, who longs to bring hope to the world...hmmm sounds like a poor plan to you and i. but there is something amazing about it...jesus, a baby, needed humanity to partner with him to see Gods will happen...literally he chose to need you and I to see his design and desire take place...

you and i have that same potential today...as we worship him...with our time, tallent, resource we become hope to a desparate world, and we become the redemption through Chirst for the world...hows that for a Christmas story!!!
